A large amount of pottery from Bristol turns up in archaeological excavations at medieval sites in Ireland. These jugs are typical of the sort of ‘small wares’ imported by Irish traders and supplied by the Ham Green and other Bristol potteries.

Surviving examples of Ham Green jugs were found during building works on the the site of the keep of Bristol Castle.  They seem to have been thrown into the well as rubbish.
