(1817–1885)

Elisha Robinson came to Bristol in 1844 and set up a business to supply shopkeepers with their stationery and packaging needs. Robinson hit on the idea of wrappers and bags printed with the name of the shop and a design from a huge stock of pictures. When a bag-making machine was invented in America, Robinson bought the rights to manufacture it in Britain. His business grew into DRG, one of the giants of the packaging industry in the UK.
